Hasan Computing System is the pioneer of PC based Software Development and IT services in Pakistan, especially in Karachi. It history goes back to the year 1987 when it developed a [record keeping] system on standalone Apple 2E System, as IBM compatibles were still a rarity in Pakistan. It subsequently provided different database systems to clients like NIPA and University of Karachi.
In 1988/89, after the emergence of IBM compatible PCs based on 8086/88 processor HCS started developing one PC standalone, Accounts, Inventory and Billing systems for different corporations in Karachi. Using one PC standalone systems was not the choice but only choice as the networking for PCs was only about to introduce in Pakistan or for that mater was just introduced on the planet. The Clients at that time were The Times Press, TNT SkyPak, and K&Ns Chicken and Poultry.
After the emergence of PCs Networking in early 90s, HCS started implementing it Accounts, Inventory and Billing systems using Novell Netware in DOS environment. HCS implement first such system in Pakistan Lubricant (Private) Limited (PLL, www.pll.com.pk) and subsequently implement the same in Mehran Oils (Private) Limited (www.mehranoils.com) and other companies.
Windows and Internet era
On the evident of Windows as a replacement to DOS environment, HCS adopt the new Windows environment to re-implement all its application, which mainly were Accounts, Inventory and billing application. In the period Accounts Pro, and Accounts Lite were developed and deployed in interested existing clients.
PPS
As one of the directors of HCS went on to launch a new company called Pharma Professional Service (a specialize entity to provide sophisticated advance services like drugs’ testing, consultancy for implementing standard regimens and developing new units) HCS was its sole collaborator for all its need related to information technology.
In collaboration with PPS, HCS has develop www.druginfosys.com, Advance Drug Interaction System, BioEquiv, Pharma Industrial Management System (PIMS)
Online Drug Information System (www.druginfosys.com)
ODIS is an exhaustive database of drugs and herbs used in humans. It have scientific/technical information of more then 99% of planet’s approved drugs (1% is the margin for newly approved drugs) and commercial/trade information of more then 99% formulations (brands) used and manufactured in Pakistan.
Advance Drugs Interaction System
It is a very sophisticated drugs interaction reporting system. Drug interactions are reported in many drugs’ references like Martindale, AHFS etc. however a lot of time these references differ significantly and drastically. For any given drug this system not only report all the other drugs that might have interaction with this drug but also who else have reported an interaction and how? One can learn about the strength of documentation for certain interaction and what is the collective clinical significance of an interaction. Also all the interaction of a certain clinical significance can be isolated and sorted out.
BioEquiv-Sol
BioEquiv-Sol is a solution for bio-equivalence and bio-assay studies. It generates complete reports according to FDA guidelines, while maintaining the history and validity of the inputted data.
BioEquiv-Sol is very user friendly software as compare to other existing solutions in the market.
PIMS (Pharma Industrial Management System)
PIMS help manages the pharmaceutical manufacturing process from raw material to finished product. It keeps track of the whole process in a paperless and persistent manner and generated properly formatted, standardized documentation, required by regulatory authorities like FDA, Pakistani Ministry of Health and, in case of export a regulatory authority of destination country.
Directory AutoCompose
In year 1998, The Time Press, one of our oldest client for its accounting, billing, inventory and other production related softwares, got a contract for composing and printing telephone directories for different parts of Pakistan. The Times Press being mainly a printing press did not have the capabilities to transform bulk data, in certain DBMS into a composed telephone directory. It therefore contacted us for this job, and we took this challenge and accomplished it. Being a software development company and not a publishing company we took a different approach in accomplishing this job. Instead of composing all the data in some sort of word processing software (Microsoft Word etc.) we develop our proprietary technology to read the data from database system and generate the directory in the form of a massive report, intelligently placing the advertisements. This technology (software + processes) is collectively called Directory AutoCompose.
Impressing by the quality of composed directories and the fact that this is done indigenously, Jamal Yellow Pages (JYP), the only major if not sole publisher of yellow pages in Pakistan, contacted us to develop a System for the composing of their directories (yellow pages). HCS improved it technology a bit and made it read JYP use.
Before using Directory AutoCompose JYP used to compose all of their directories manually, and they use to reject a lot of advertisement, especially the ones near the publishing data, because of their inability of properly placing them. As soon as they started using our software they had the luxury of composing directory within few hours as much as they want. Taking Ads at anytime, even few hours before the start of printing and placing them anywhere they want. This was a huge leap and because of this they were able to increase there quality and revenue many folds.
Directory AutoCompose then used in
FindMasajid
FindMasajid is a mosque and Muslim related web 2.0 search engine initially for North America. It is a location based application in which all the searchable entities (mosques and businesses) have their geopoint (longitude and latitude) stored in the database. Based on their geopoints, proximity searches can be performed and an entity can be shown on a map, currently Google Maps are being used for this purpose.
FindMasajid is a AJAX based application (a component of web 2.0), which mean it is a highly responsive low bandwidth web application, like gmail and other Google products.
FindMasajid support social tagging or folksonomy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folksonomy), public opinions and public collaboration to enrich its data and enhance user experience.
Current State
Currently HCS focus of development is in five areas:
